Norddeutsches Theatre- North German Theatre

The16th North German Theater Meeting or "Norddeutsches Theatre" was a theatrical spectacular that took form May-June of 1989. Designed by famed German graphic artist Volker Pfuller, this fabulous poster was used to advertise the debut of this lively theatre festival held annually in Osnabruck, Germany since 1973.

Volker Pfuller is among the most prolific graphic artists and stage designers in German history. Active from 1950 - present day, his works are among the most collectible pieces of graphic art in German antiquity. Having won the Austrian, Swiss and German award for "Poster of the Year" countless times, his style is deeply rooted in the classics. The color choices on this whimsical theater poster are immaculate.

The soft yellows, bleeds of tangerine and dotted costumes simply inspire an unmatched ambiance. Bearing the timeless "Thalia and Melphomene", or "Tragedy and Comedy" theatrical masks, its impossible to not get lost in Pfullers blended brush stroked and caricatured infusion into such a timeless theatrical piece.
