Paul Colin was one of the most prolific French poster artists of the 20th century, working from the 1920s through the postwar decades. He made his name with a 1925 series for the Revue Nègre, the Paris debut that launched Josephine Baker, and spent the following sixty years producing work for theater, film, tourism, and wartime propaganda. His draftsmanship was fast and confident, built on bold silhouettes and a gift for capturing movement in very few lines. The period originals here come from that long career.
